NEW YORK (TND) — Adult film star Stormy Daniels reportedly wore a bulletproof vest to and from court before she testified against former President Donald Trump during the ongoing hush money trial in New York.
In an exclusive interview with CNN, Daniels’ attorney Clark Brewster said his client was concerned about security around the courthouse. He said Daniels "cried herself to sleep" on one of the nights before she was set to head into court.
Brewster said Daniels is also stressed because her address was listed on evidence that was shown before the court.
“She's very concerned about that and because she lives in an area that might not have the level of security that she'd feel comfortable with," he said.
He added that Daniels wore her daughter's necklace to court to help comfort her. He said Daniels' daughter, Caden Crain, made the necklace for her.
"It was really cute that she did that," he told CNN.
Daniels, 45, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, alleged that Trump paid her $130,000 to stay quiet about an alleged sexual encounter with him at a celebrity golf outing in Lake Tahoe in 2006. Ten years later, as Trump was campaigning for president, Daniels threatened to go public with claims of the encounter.
Brewster noted he believes it was Daniels' time to "shine" when she was cross examined by Trump's lawyers because she is "a quick thinker." He also said she was "very responsive" during her testimony.
Daniels testified last week that she and Trump had a “brief” sexual encounter -- which she said Trump initiated. She said he invited her to dinner and then back to his hotel suite.
She said she didn’t feel physically or verbally threatened, though she knew his bodyguard was outside the suite, and there was what she perceived as an imbalance of power: Trump “was bigger and blocking the way.”
After it ended, she said, “It was really hard to get my shoes because my hands were shaking so hard.”
“He said, ‘Oh, it was great. Let’s get together again, honey bunch,’” Daniels continued. “I just wanted to leave.”
Trump shook his head and whispered to his lawyers as Daniels testified.
The former president often refers to Daniels as "a sleaze bag" and a liar. He has repeatedly denied the claims, saying they never had sex.
Trump's former attorney Michael Cohen has also testified in the case. He returned to the witness stand Tuesday, testifying in detail about how the former president was linked to all aspects of the hush money scheme that prosecutors say was an illegal effort to purchase and then bury stories that threatened his 2016 campaign.
Trump has pleaded not guilty in the case. Brewster said while Daniels hopes Trump is convicted, she also feels sorry for him.
"She feels bad for the guy because she's just empathetic," the attorney said. "But publically? I mean, she's been so damaged by him in the statements he's made about her that any person would feel some degree of revenge motive. So, I think that she would be uh more inclined to hope that the jury does the right thing and finds him and convicts her.”
