PITTSBURGH (WJAC) — Authorities say one person was hurt after the rear end of a transit bus was caught in a sinkhole.
Pittsburgh Public Safety officials say the incident happened Monday morning along Penn Avenue.
According to the Port Authority, the bus was sitting at a red light when the sinkhole swallowed its back end.
Authorities say two people were on board when the incident happened. One person was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries.
A car stopped behind the bus had its front end partially hanging over the edge of the sinkhole. Authorities say the car has been safely removed from the edge.
Public safety officials say a crane company has been requested to remove the bus from the sinkhole.
Penn Avenue will be closed between 9th and 10th streets for about eight to 10 hours, according to authorities.
Children at a nearby day care center were taken to the Westin hotel while crews evaluate the sinkhole.
