PHILADELPHIA (CNN) — Authorities say an officer was injured after hundreds of teens reportedly caused chaos during a flash mob in Philadelphia’s Center City Wednesday night.
Police say the group was “out of control, disrupting the city and vandalizing property.”
The incident unfolded just before 8 p.m.
The officer was hurt while he was chasing a teen who allegedly tried to free another teen who was being held in the back of a police car.
The officer was taken to a hospital where he is in stable condition, but the extent of his injuries is unknown.
Police say, so far, three to four arrests have been made.
Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney took to social media with a warning saying this type of dangerous behavior will not be tolerated.
