DETROIT (TND) — President Joe Biden’s speech at the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People's (NAACP) Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner in Detroit Sunday garnered nine corrections by the White House, a transcript of the address shows.
Among the claims corrected by the president’s staff was Biden’s assertion he was vice president “during the pandemic." The COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020 under former President Donald Trump, and Biden, campaigning for president at the time, had not served as vice president since 2016.
“And when I was vice president, things were kind of bad during the pandemic [recession],” the transcript reads.Other corrections include replacing the word “inspiresing” with “inspiring” and fixing Biden’s suggestion American families saved $800,000 per year in healthcare premiums under his Affordable Care Act instead of $800.

Biden also incorrectly quoted former President Donald Trump’s controversial “bloodbath” comment, instead suggesting Trump had predicted “bloodshed.” The president also erroneously referred to the NAACP as the “NAAC” in the speech.
“We’re cracking down on corporate landlords who [to] keep rents down,” the corrected transcript also reads, fixing Biden’s suggestion the White House opposes landlords who decrease rent prices.The president’s repeated gaffes came ahead of a controversial comment Tuesday suggesting young men marry into a “family of five or more daughters” so that “one of them will always love you.”
In April, Biden appeared to confuse the Jan. 6 Capitol riots with D-Day when reminding a crowd not to “forget the dark days of June 6." Earlier that month, he also appeared to read speaking instructions from a teleprompter while delivering remarks.
