LOGAN TOWNSHIP -- Police are investigating the finances of the Newburg Volunteer Fire Department’s social club after officials became suspicious about missing funds.
Logan Township police chief Tim Mercer said the fire company's new president approached police last week with concerns about money that appeared to be unaccounted for in the company's books.
Mercer said the police department will have an expert look into the fire company's financial records to verify if money missing, or if it was a bookkeeping error.
He said that if the money is found to be missing, the department will proceed with an investigation that could date back two or three decades.
