JOHNSTOWN - The Road Dawgs Motorcycle Club hosted its 2016 motorcycle run to honor law enforcement.
Each year, the club chooses a specific beneficiary. Over 150 motorcyclists rode from Johnstown to Holsopple this year to raise money for the family of fallen state trooper Lloyd Reed Jr.
Reed died in November after he was shot as he responded to a domestic dispute in Westmorland County.
"You don't think things like that happens in small towns, but unfortunately they do," said his widow, Rosemarie Reed.
Reed said her husband died doing what he enjoyed.
"He loved being a police officer. He was always there to help whoever, whenever, and not only in police work," Reed said.
This year, the ride started at the Zepka Harley Davidson in Johnstown and continued through Reed's hometown of Holsopple. Police and firefighters directed traffic at every intersection along the way.
Reed said she was grateful to be chosen this year. "Such a honor. It means a lot to the families that we're not forgotten, and my husband's not forgotten."
She addressed the motorcyclists before they began the ride - "Thank you for not forgetting about me because I am lost without him," she said.
As the group took off, club members said they had raised thousands of dollars.
