ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish, in Altoona, has once again built its annual Presepio scene to honor the birth of Jesus.
The display differs from the traditional nativity scene in that it features a wide array of items that comprise it.
The holiday display is based on the Presepios in the churches of southern Italy.
Presepios are unique because they are technically always ‘growing.’
Father Frank Scornaienchi narrates the meaning behind the traditional Italian display, and how people from around the world have contributed to it.
