Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities with the Lawrence Township Police Department say a Curwensville man is facing charges after he allegedly exposed himself to a child inside a store.
According to the affidavit, police say officers were dispatched to the Ollie's Bargain Outlet, located along Daisey Street Extension, on Saturday for a report of an adult male who had exposed himself to a child inside the bathroom of the store.
Police say the incident then led to a physical altercation between the man and the child's father prior to officers arriving on scene.
Authorities say, according to the child's father, the boy told his parents that a man, identified as 60-year-old James Schmoke, had shown his genitalia to the him (the child) while he was "locked in the bathroom stall."
Investigators say the child's father then confronted Schmoke about the incident and admitted to "pushing" him prior to police arriving at the store.
Police say upon interviewing the boy, officers learned that Schmoke had "forced himself" inside the stall and began "waving" his genitalia around.
Officers say when they interviewed Schmoke about the allegations, he originally told police that the child had entered the stall after he did and stated that he was "almost beat up."
Police say he later changed his story and admitted to walking in on the child in the stall but said that he did so out of desperation to go to the bathroom.
Schmoke was then taken into custody and is being housed at the Clearfield County Jail, on $25,000 bail, according to online court records.
He faces charges of corruption of minors and indecent exposure.
