JOHNSTOWN -- The 2000 NFL Draft was one for the history books for the Penn State football program. At that time, it was the first time since 1984 that college teammates went 1 and 2 respectively in the draft.
Those teammates were defensive lineman Courtney Brown (Cleveland Browns) and LaVar Arrington (Washington Redskins). It was the first and only time in program history that Penn State was represented with the first two picks in the same draft.
Brown was the 1999 Big Ten defensive player of the year, and Arrington finished the 1999 season 9th in the Heisman Trophy voting. Arrington declared for the 2000 draft after his junior season in Happy Valley, while Brown spent four years in the blue and white.
Relive the historic moment from April 15th, 2000 in the video above.
